April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July, began taking guitar and piano lessons at age seven. She was interested in writing songs was ignited. April Lockhart composed her first track"Different" when she was 12 years old. When April was 14 years old, she devoted long hours creating song ideas as well as perfecting the song. After a while, she began to go on trips with her dad as well as write her songs in NY as well as LA. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in the book, Take My Hand, for her friends who were dealing with peer pressure, disabilities or suicide. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle influencer as well as working in partnerships with brands that are clean and healthy like Ilia, has built her own following. Lockhart was born with no left hand and that is an aspect of her identity, but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook her disability. It also doesn't emphasize the issue. The message? The message? That we each contain multitudes, that our identity and physical selves are not all that they seem. Lockhart, via video messages from his Nashville at home, claims that I don't wish for my physical appearance to define me. I'm much greater than the physical person I am. It doesn't affect my everyday life. Everything is normal and I have learned to make adjustments. But, I consider it to be a vital part of myself. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime however Lockhart is a true inspiration in this regard. She admits that she's been through phases of her body, at times, being unsure about wearing certain types of clothing showing how much of her body. She can wear whatever she'd like, and is proud to share photos of herself wearing these clothes. Self-love she said is a process. "I don't think you'll ever get in that place," she said. That's true of everyone regardless of their insecurity. It's important to surround yourself with people who can really know you.
